What will Vivek's role in 'Thala 55' be?

Gautham Menon is a 'no nonsense' director. All the 8 direct releases, he has had in Tamil so far, stood out for the faithful marriage of class and mass. His movies - Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Kaakha Kaakha and Vaaranam Aayiram, in particular – are most movie buffs’ favorite movies in the respective genres.
 

At this juncture, his association with Thala Ajith in a movie tentatively titled Sathyadev (Thala 55), is one of the most important and expected projects of this year. This movie is supposed to be a cop story. With Vivek recently added to the cast – the question is, What will Vivek's contribution to the team be? 
 

Apart from Minnale, his debut movie, and the post-intermission sequences of Neethane En Ponvasantham, Gautham's movies generally do not feature a separate comedy track. It is to be noted that his other movies – Kaakha Kaakha, Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu, Pachai Kili Muthucharam, and Nadunisi Naaygal – did not even have any comic artists.
 

So, what will Vivek’s role in 'Thala 55' be?
 

It’s highly improbable that Vivek will have a standalone track in the movie, as the director’s movies - the cop movies, in particular - generally do not shift from what they set out to do.
 

The likelihood is that Thala Ajith might play a man of minimalistic words, and Vivek might be the person who accompanies the hero everywhere, and serves as the connecting factor between the hero’s (Raghavan-like) instincts and the audience.
 

Whatever the role may be – Vivek will entertain for sure. And, with Thala onboard, entertainment can only elevate to celebrations!
