At a time when quality of life seem to be gradually improving for transgenders, the hard reality has still not changed for many. After finishing her engineering in 2010, an unnamed transgender joined as a customer support executive for Air India. She changed her name in Tamil Nadu’s gazette office after undergoing a surgery. She has written to President Ram Nath Kovind requesting "mercy killing" as she can't meet her daily expenses.
