TAMIL NADU: POLICE LATHICHARGE PROTESTING STUDENTS

Students of Annamalai University in Chidambaram protested on Wednesday demanding the formation of the Cauvery Management Board and blocked the arch gate of the institution. The university administration held talks with the students which resulted in an argument. Later, police arrived and launched a lathicharge to disperse the crowd of students. While some students were taken into custody, others gathered and shouted slogans demanding the release of arrested students. The police held talks with the students who later gave up the protests.
