The Thanjavur court has reportedly made a strong statement against dishonour killing by sentencing three men to life imprisonment in connection with the killing of an inter-caste couple and their 40-day-old baby near Tiruvarur. The couple, Palaniyappan-Amirthavalli, and their baby Abinesh were hacked to death in 2014. Palaniappan's brother Sivasubramanian was sentenced to 37 years in prison, while another brother Ramakrishnan was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Further, another man named Durairaj and a relative named Mahendran were sentenced to 30 years and 3 years in prison respectively.
