Protesters hold rally to lay siege to Secretariat.

Members of Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Kootamaippu, an umbrella organisation of 150 Tamil outfits, on Thursday conducted a rally to lay siege to the Secretariat in Chennai. The protesters held the rally to condemn the Tamil Nadu government and police after at least 13 persons have been killed in police firing in Thoothukudi.


Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan and Tamil Desiya Munnani president Pazha Nedumaran have participated in the rally. Hundreds of people from over 15 political parties and outfits, including VCK and May 17 Movement, have taken part in the rally.


The protesters started the rally in Chepauk and walking towards the Secretariat to lay siege to it. Reports suggest that environmental and anti-nuclear activist Dr SP Udayakumar and M. H. Jawahirullah, president of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi are also part of the rally.
