The Vandalur Zoo which receives an average of 1,500 visitors even on weekends reportedly had over 30,000 visitors on the occasion of Pongal on Monday. Following the unprecedented rush in the zoo, additional policemen and forest division officers were deployed in the zoo to assist the officials. Reports say, three enclosures in the zoo including aquarium and gharial enclosure will remain closed as an even larger crowd is expected on Kannum Pongal on Tuesday.
