Reports suggest that at least 15,000 police personnel were deployed in Chennai to strengthen security as a huge chunk of people are expected to visit Marina beach, parks and other places in the city for ‘Kaanum Pongal’. People are also banned from entering the sea and taking a boat ride. Fences were being created along the beach to prevent people from entering the sea. Temporary towers and a temporary control room have been established to monitor the people.
