The Idol Wing has reportedly lodged a complaint with police that two ancient bronze icons of Emperor Raja Raja Chola I and Lokamadevi, his wife, have been stolen from the Thanjavur Big Temple 50 years ago. The two icons are worth Rs 60 crore and Rs 40 crore respectively, suggest reports. The idols were part of the 13 bronze statues donated by the Chieftain of Kodumbalur then, reports said, adding that the status of the other 11 icons is not known. The two idols have been traced to Calico Museum and the Sarabhai Foundation galleries, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
