It’s been 60 years since DMK received ‘Rising Sun’ symbol from the State Election Commission as a recognised political party. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) received the symbol on March 2, 1958. The party was established by Arignar Anna on September 17, 1949. DMK formed the government in Tamil Nadu for the first time in 1967 under Anna, who took oath as the Chief Minister.
