Chennai: Taxi drivers call off strike

According to reports, the call taxi drivers have called off the strike following talks with the Chennai traffic police top official. The drivers called for the strike against the Tamil Nadu government’s order banning call taxi drivers from driving for more than 8 hours. The government also warned that the licences of drivers who drive in excess of 8 hours will be cancelled. The drivers also demanded the government’s intervention in regularising app-based cab services such as OLA and UBER. The top official reportedly assured that action will be taken on their demands very soon.
