After heavy rain lashed the city, Chennai has recorded highest rainfall of the year after heavy rain lashed on Monday. Chennai registered a record 13.49 cm rain while Cauvery delta region recorded the highest of 31 cm rainfall, Nungambakkam received 11.64 cm and Meenambakkam witnessed 16.87 cm till Tuesday 08:30 am. Met office reportedly forecast heavy rains in Chennai, Cuddalore, Puducherry, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram districts.
