TN boy nominated for International Peace Prize for Children 2017

12-year-old Sakthi from Tiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu has reportedly been nominated for International Peace Prize for Children 2017. Born into the nomadic Narikuruvar community, Sakthi faced severe discrimination and abuses which initially made him drop out of school. However, he was later identified by an NGO, soon after which he convinced 25 other marginalized children to join school. Sakthi’s inspirational efforts to help change the lives of marginalized children is reportedly the reason why he’s nominated for the award.
