The usual procedure to the start of an IPL is to have a huge opening ceremony with stars from all over the country coming in and putting up a show. However, this year there is no opening ceremony.

IPL opening ceremony cost goes to families affected in Pulwama attack

The cost of hosting the IPL opening ceremony which was estimated to be around Rs 20 Crore was donated to the affected families in the Pulwama attack.  Out of this, a sum of Rs 11 crore is contributed to the Indian Army, Rs 7 crore to the CRPF and Rs 1 crore each to the Navy and Air Force respectively.

Apart from this, MS Dhoni presented a cheque of Rs 2 Crore collected from the ticket sales and was donated to the Pulwama attack as announced earlier.

This really is a very good gesture from the BCCI and Chennai Super Kings in support of the Families who have been affected which will help them a lot.
