Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and the franchise’s owner N Srinivasan were seen having a discussion at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai on Thursday. The video also features other CSK players practising in the ground where former India cricketer L Balaji was also spotted. Notably, CSK is back in IPL this season after a two years’ ban.
The BCCI has reportedly decided that the captains of six IPL franchises will not attend the opening ceremony of season 11 to be held on April 7 before the inaugural match. Reports suggest that the decision was taken due to inadequate homework on the part of senior BCCI officials on the logistical aspect of four other franchises who have matches next day. Two matches - one between DD and KXIP in Mohali at 4 pm and another between RCB and KKR in Kolkata at 8 pm - have been scheduled to take place on April 8. CSK captain MS Dhoni and MI captain Rohit Sharma will take part in the ceremony.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has released the anthem for the 2018 edition in five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu. The season is set to begin with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings on April 7. BCCI and Star India have collaborated to create the anthem for the campaign this year, say reports.
