Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has reportedly said that the Central government will take steps to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax. Stating that the Centre is “in favour of bringing petroleum products under the GST,” Jaitley added that the decision on bringing petroleum products under GST will be taken after arriving at a consensus of the states, say reports.
