Hours before the campaigning ended for RK Nagar by-election, the Special Chief Electoral Officer Vikram Batra, who was monitoring the RK Nagar election developments reportedly rushed to New Delhi. This triggered speculations that the election might be cancelled. However, Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, reportedly said that the election will not be cancelled and that the rumors about the cancellation emerged out of the blue.
