Race to form govt in Karnataka heats up, leaders line up to meet Gover

The Karnataka Assembly elections have reached its climax with leaders of all the three major parties in the state rushing to meet the Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake claim to form the government. BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Yeddyurappa earlier met the Governor and staked claim to form the government.

Following the meeting with the Governor, Yeddyurappa said that his party has emerged as the single largest party, hence he should be allowed to form the government. He also reportedly claimed that he will prove majority support in the Legislative Assembly.

Following which, JD-S leader HD Kumaraswamy and Congress’ Siddaramaiah, along with their other party  leaders such as Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge and ShivaKumar, have visited the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government.

Since the Congress was falling behind in the results, the party came to an understanding with the JD-S and offered support to the party to form the government. It was announced that Kumaraswamy will become the Chief Minister, while Congress will name a Dalit Deputy Chief Minister. The latest is Kumaraswamy seeking an appointment with the Governor.
