Death toll due to Nipah increased to 17, hospitals deserted in Kerala

According to reports, another man from Kerala succumbed to the deadly virus Nipah on Thursday. Rashin, aged 25 died while undergoing treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College and Hospital. On Wednesday, two fell victim to the virus. A soldier from Kolkata died on Sunday of suspected Nipah contamination.

 

According to reports from DC, Nipah virus outbreak has left Kerala in a pandemonium. Due to fear of contamination, people are refusing to go to hospitals. According to officials, hospitals in Kozhikode are nearly empty. Business has reportedly reduced by 50 percent.

 

Antibody for Nipah, Human Monoclonal Antibody (M 102.4) has reportedly been shipped from Australia to Delhi on Thursday. The medicine will be brought to Kerala from Delhi soon.
