Sardaar Gabbar Singh is upcoming commercial entertainer starring Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and Kajal Agarwal in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by DSP who gave a brilliant album Gabbar Singh for the star earlier.

Sardaar
Singer: Benny Dayal
Lyrics: Rama Jogayya Sastry

The album begins with an ode to its predecessor with ample style and vigor featuring the supremely talented Benny Dayal in this revamped number. Despite the familiar chants of Gabbar Singh, the song has additional layers of Hard Rock guitars and live drumming which makes it thoroughly enjoyable. Rama Jogayya Sastry’s lyrics elevate the hero’s character with experimental usage of words.

O Pilla Subhanalla
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Ananth Sriram

The lazy sojourn occurs with a relaxing duet penned by another talented lyricist Ananth Sriram. Vijay Prakash, who is usually popular for singing high voltage numbers deliver a laid back melody and Shreya Ghoshal joins with her mellowed vocals. The interludes are neatly woven around trademark DSP guitars, cool trumpets and fun string section.

Tauba Tauba
Singers: Nakash Aziz, M.M.Mansi
Lyrics: Ananth Sriram

DSP attempts to deliver a unique fusion between a melodious Sufi rendezvous with a Telugu masala number with this peculiar composition. Despite the strong vocal support, the song falters because of repetitive tune and the irresistible resemblance of many Bollywood compositions at once. However, Ananth Sriram does his best with impactful lyrics in this regard.

Aadevadanna Eedevadanna
Singers: MLR Karthikeyan
Lyrics: Rama Jogayya Sastry

An abrupt transformation occurs in the album with this short yet powerful folk chants bit song which is high on energy levels. The varied rhythm section makes sure that the effect occurs in short duration. Nevertheless, the track ends on an sudden note leaving the listener waiting for more.

Nee Chepakallaku
Singers: Sagar, Chinmayi
Lyrics: Rama Jogayya Sastry

Another feel good melody makes its presence felt in a moderate fashion this time with Sagar and Chinmayi in lead vocals. But as the song progresses, an overdose of musical layers commence with chord progression which ends in no man’s land and a plethora of saxophone, trumpets sudden advent of harmonica.

Khakhee Chokka
Singers: Simha, Mamta Sharma
Lyrics: Ananth Sriram

The finale arrives with a mass masala number in which the rhythm section takes an obvious front seat.Nevertheless, the tune lacks the much needed thump and a straightforward punch and also a hummable catchphrase which are essential for an item song.

Verdict: Sardaar Gabbar Singh is an average album from DSP. Despite the formulaic approach with mass numbers and laid back melodies, the album lacks neither the punch or the fun elements which are needed for a typical commercial entertainer.
