Drishyam completes a grand 100 days today

The biggest sensation in recent times reaches its 100

Mar 28, 2014

At a time when even straight Tamil releases struggle to last in theaters for more than a couple of weeks, a non-Tamil movie has managed to rule the hearts of people in the state for a whopping 100 days at a stretch, thanks to its thrilling never-seen-before content.

We are talking about Malayalam cinema's biggest blockbuster Drishyam, which enters its 100th day today across the country. In Chennai, Drishyam has had a grand run in multiplexes such as PVR, Mayajaal, Sathyam and Escape and was 'housefull' every other weekend.

The film is still running in substantial screens in Kerala at a time when its remakes in Telugu and Kannada are fast getting ready. The director of the movie Jeetu Joseph is a household name now across the South, and he will be helming the Tamil remake too, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead. The Tamil remake is expected to begin rolling in June.

Hearty congrats to the Drishyam team and to Mohanlal in particular for making sure that this content-heavy movie became such a big commercial success too.
