Tamil
cine industry seemed to be slowly getting
out of its piracy issue with the government
taking stringent measures against people
who are involved in this racket. In this
connection one Mr Sanjay Wadhwa was arrested
yesterday at his Kilpauk residence.
Ironically,
Mr. Wadhwa is the leading financier
and distributor for Tamil films. When
it comes to overseas distribution,
the first name that comes to anybody’s
mind is Sanjay Wadhwa. In fact he
was involved in distributing Chandramukhi
too. This has really come as a shock
to the industry, which is trying to
grapple with the situation with a
lot of tough actions. Numerous film
VCDs of the recently released Vettaiyadu
Vilayadu, Sillunnu Oru Kaadal and
Thimiru were found in his office and
residence. This is a clear instance
of watchman looting the house.
In
the cine industry, it is said that, during
the break in shooting, a lot of lady artists
are watching such pirated CDs in their
caravan. The male artists are doing this
leisurely at their residences. This has
become a normal routine for them. At this
juncture special mention should definitely
be made of Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay who
makes it a point to watch all the films
in the theatre only. He has made this
as his policy and never deviates from
this. We only wish everybody follows his
footsteps so that Kollywood is totally
bereft of such ill practices.
