Jyothi shot to limelight with hit movie Pudhu
Kavidhai starring opposite superstar Rajinikanth.
She was introduced to filmdom by T Rajendar
in Rail Payanangalil. The 44-year-old actress
had been suffering from cancer since the past
four years. Earlier she was treated at a private
hospital and continued treatment at home later
on.

Sources say that her condition deteriorated few days ago
and she was admitted to a private hospital. Though the
doctors tried their best, her end came around 1 AM. She
was survived by husband Kumar and daughter Seetha.
Relatives, friends and film stars paid their last respects
at the actress’s Neelankarai residence after which
the “Vellai Pura” was cremated in the Besant
Nagar crematorium.
Though her movies were huge hits the actress settled for
a peaceful marital life with husband Kumar, a Telugu film
producer. After a few years in hibernation Jyothi donned
the greasepaint once again recently for Ullam Kollaipogudhe
as the heroine’s mother.
