Fame
comes at a price. Shilpa Shetty just
realized this. She attempted to catapult
herself into international fame by
accepting an offer to feature in British
reality show Big Brother. Whether,
she regrets her decision now is anybody’s
guess but she is certainly not having
the happiest of times in the ‘Big
Brother’ household.
Used
to being surrounded by adoring fans and sweet
talking producer all the time, she might have
found it difficult to swallow the blank expression
on her co-inmates’ faces when she introduced
herself. Things were downhill from then on. She
was alienated by most members, insulted and driven
to tears.
Things
that were said to her are being viewed as racist
comments. However the height of the insults
came when one inmate named Jackiey Budden called
her a ‘dog’; certainly not pleasant.
But
this seems to have done her cause some good.
On an online poll conducted to eliminate one
of the inmates, Shilpa survived and the one
ousted was her nemesis. Must have a lot to do
with sympathy for the hapless young girl caught
amidst rude people. Shilpa has revealed that
the height of horrors at Big Brother was being
seen on camera without make up.
Meanwhile,
in spite of her feud with some of the female
inmates, she has managed to strike the right
note with American actor Dirk Benedict and Michael
Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson.
Only
time will tell whether Shilpa manages to stay
the course of three months as per agreement
with the TV channel. Viewership ratings have
shown no significant increase since Shilpa’s
entry, contradictory to the channel management’s
expectations.
