Sarika Kamalhassan still wants her name to be called out with Kamalhassan’s tagged to it. She was recently in the news for the best actress award that she got for the movie Parsania, 17 years after its release. The lady looks composed. Estranged from husband Kamalhassan, she today says that her best companions are books and music. How does she cope with hardships? “I fight my own battles. I don’t believe in God but I like and believe people who believe in God,” she says.

I like computers too and I spend a lot of time with it. Does she not want to go behind the camera as a director? “For twenty years I’ve been behind the camera. Many are the awards that others have got for the work I did. But I don’t grudge them. Real satisfaction lies in the way you do your work,” Sarika says with an air of confidence. The woman Sarika adores today is her mother. She likes her toughness. About her daughters Sruthi and Akshara, Sarika says that they are her greatest wealth. “I never interfere in their matters. It is their life and I am sure they can manage it well,” says Sarika.
