Looks like the year has started on a scandalous note for Tamil cinema. It couldn't have been worse, with the numerous scandals hitting the headlines in less than two months fuelling the gossip columns and main pages of magazines alike. Preety Varma, who was believed to have fled with her boyfriend deserting her parents, is the first to become news material.
This was followed by the small time sitcom actor Devipriya's wedding with the alleged porn king Isaac. Isaac's wives from his earlier wedding came into the scene, which made the police dug out his past eventually bringing out many dirty stories. Then came Kannada Prasad, whose case is still under investigation, which may bring many similar grimy tales to the limelight.
While these are roadblocks in the otherwise rosy side of Tamil cinema that is witnessing advancement in all aspects, Nadigar Sangam, as it seems, has a huge responsibility to eradicate these elements. As it has been declared in a previous meet, conducting counseling sessions by professional counselors could help, if not work wonders.
