With the onset of Television revolution and invasion of VCD / DVDs in the market, Tamil movies are hardly ever getting to run more than 100 days, forget the silver jubilee. Chandramukhi is hailed as Rajini’s comeback movie, since Rajini announced that if Baba proves to be a hit, he would quit the industry. Chandramukhi captured the audience’s hearts instantly and surprisingly is still running for 500 days in certain theatres.

Earlier, Theagarja Bhagavadhar starrer Haridas witnessed above 365 days run in Tamil cinema history. With this 500 days run, Chandramukhi is all set to rewrite history topping the longest running Tamil movies list.

Interestingly, as Rajini’s movies always had a market in Japan, Chandramukhi is all set to speak Japanese very soon. As a test run, preview shows were conducted in Japan and it attracted huge crowds supplying energy boosters to the producers for the full-fledged release of the movie. Earlier, Muthu was dubbed and released in Japan and turned out to be a huge hit.
