Prakash Raj on his National Award
September 08, 2009

Prakash Raj is on cloud nine on being declared the best actor for his performance in the critically acclaimed Kancheevaram. When asked how he felt about being honored with the National Award by a Tamil daily, the actor said that he is happy that a Tamil film has got its due recognition in the all India level.

He thanked Kancheevaram’s director Priyadarshan for offering him the opportunity to play the lead role in the film. Prakash Raj said that Priyadarshan approached him with the Kancheevaram story and insisted that he act in it or he would have it shelved until he was available. This trust in the actor’s capabilities has probably earned the desired results!
