A film on a former skipper

Frans Cronje, brother of Hansie Cronje, has directed a film based on the late cricket captain's life. The film, titled Hansie, will hit the screens in South Africa on September 24 and is due to be released worldwide sometime later. The film revolves around the captain's life and his death in the plane crash in 2002. Hansie was shot in India, South

Africa and UK with Francois Rautenbach playing the lead role. Cronje's former teammates' - Allan Donald, Gary Kirsten, Jonty Rhodes, Shaun Pollock, Peter Pollock, and Andrew Hudson – interviews have been included in the film. According to the director, the film is not about uncovering the match fixing scandal but Hansie's "internal journey from stardom to losing everything and then the journey to rebuilding his life."
