The
Tamil film fraternity showed their
solidarity in the Sri Lankan Tamil
issue yesterday (April 23, 2009).
The event witnessed some fiery speeches
from the film personalities. Notable
among them were directors Bharathiraja,
Ameer, Cheran, lyricist Thamarai,
and actor Sathyaraj.
A thoroughly distressed Bharathiraja
went a step further and said that
he would return the Padma Shree
award that was awarded to him by
the Government of India. He also
made arrangements for its return
immediately. The director showed
his Padma award to those present
at the venue before disclosing his
intention to send it back. |
