Kollywood on strike
April 23, 2009

The theatres in Tamil Nadu have cancelled two of the film screenings– morning and matinee – today (April 23, 2009). The decision to cancel the shows comes in the wake of the general bandh called by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi condemning the killing of innocent Tamils in war-torn Sri Lanka and to enforce ceasefire.

The Film Chamber, the Nadigar Sangam, FEFSI and the small screen artistes have all pledged their support for the bandh.

In a statement made jointly by the Nadigar Sangam president R. Sarath Kumar and the general secretary Radha Ravi, it is said all the film shootings have been cancelled for the day.
