Indian-origin man elected as Ireland’s Prime Minister

Leo Varadkar, a 38-year-old son of an Indian immigrant, has been on Wednesday elected as the Prime Minister of Ireland. Notably, Varadkar, who is a gay, is the youngest person to hold the office. The man, who succeeded Enda Kenny earlier this month as leader of the Fine Gael party, said his government will be one of the new European centre and a Republic of opportunity where “every citizen gets a fair go”.
