Banno
Singers: Brijesh Shandilya, Swathi Sharma
Lyrics: Vayu

True to the title, the album welcomes the listener to a typical Haryana styled wedding in terms of music. Peculiar flute, riveting rhythm section and energetic vocals by Brijesh and Swathi make it an enjoyable hearing. The interludes are richly woven around syncopated dholak, harmonium, modern bass sounds and high voltage wedding ambience.  A very special mention should be made for the peppy lyrics by Vayu as well.

Move On
Singers: Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

An interesting composition with deep philosophical touch in terms of the tune along with Sunidhi Chauhan’s electrifying vocals arrives in ease. Despite the eerie feel it creates, the composition has mesmerizing energy coupled with electric guitar, acoustic guitar strums and impressive sequencing. This track can be termed as sure shot winner for its compelling fusion attempt to bring North Indian folk style singing to Alternative Rock with brilliant punch!

Mat Jaa Re
Singers: Ankit Tiwari
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

In contrast to the high voltage beginnings, here comes a soulful melody sung by the velvety sounding Ankit Tiwari. The retro styled dholak is magically woven with contemporary sounds to create a thoughtful musical ambience. The interludes take the listener on a detour of deep emotional thought replete with harmonium, flute, folk violin and heart wrenching string section.

Ghani Bawri
Singers: Jyoti Nooran
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

The wedding atmosphere is back with a fun filled folk number with sultry vocals by Jyoti Nooran. The instant likability factor of the track is evident right from the prelude which kicks off in confidence. Watch out for the timely bass transitions which act like a soul for this track!  The amazing indigenous feel of the track is so strong that it is bound to take the listener on a tour to a visually enriching wedding in Haryana.

Old School Girl
Singers: Anmoll Malik
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

Surprisingly, it is time for a musical sojourn for a Modern Jazz number. The extremely laid back style of presentation and lazy vocals by Anmoll Malik make it an undisputable favorite. Sweet sounding piano, vivacious trumpets and mild percussions rightfully add the jazzy feel to this cool musical monologue by the vocalist!

Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar
Singers: Dev Negi
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

This is an extremely likeable trance number with classy vocals by Devi Negi. The pleasant sounding loops add to mild Hip-Hop styled rhythm to create breathtaking magic! The tune takes unexpected yet brilliant sounding twists and turns as if travelling on a winding pathway to bliss. Interludes offer a feast of various musical layers such as Sarod, Guitar, neat chord progression- in short everything a music lover can ask for!

O Saathi Mere
Singers: Sonu Nigam
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

To add more vigor to the musical treat, Sonu Nigam – the master of solos arrive in style now! The incredible emotional quotient he expresses in the rendition is something commendable. The track has mild traces of Hindustani Raag Desh but again diverges to multiple magical pathways. The timely electric guitar riffs and power packed string section makes this track an undisputed jewel of the album.

Ghani Baawri (Remix)
Singers: Jyoti Nooran
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

The most fun filled track of the album is graced with additional rhythm layers and promises more high voltage. The additional percussions touch up the track with more synthetic flavor but nevertheless retain the actual zeal of it.

Old School Girl (Haryanvi)
Singers: Kalpana Gandharv
Lyrics: Raj Shekhar

Yesteryear Jazz of New York meets the remote towns of Haryana in incredible style for this track. The composers save the masterstroke for the finale in the form of this phenomenal track. Kalpana’s typical Haryanvi accent for English lyrics is done with no mistakes and quite unpretentious as well.

Verdict: Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a fantastic album which celebrates music in great style.
