The IIFA award function to be held at Colombo, Srilanka in June is being boycotted by South Indian Film industry and there are widespread demonstrations held against Indian film fraternity attending the same. It was reported that Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai would not be attending the award function. The latest in this is that Film Chamber President Mr. Kalyan, FEFSI Secretary G Siva and All India FEFSI Secretary L Suresh are leaving for Mumbai to make a plea and give requisition application to Bollywood VIPs to stop the awards function in Sri Lanka.

Earlier it was reported that Bollywood star Salman Khan was said to be attending the same. This has caused some Tamil factions in Daaravi, Mumbai to burn his effigy which resulted in police arresting those who were involved in the burning.
