There are reports that Mani Ratnam had called for a meeting with Sonam Kapoor, daughter of Anil Kapoor. The actress was also keen to work with the talented director. But when she learnt that Mani offered her the role for a film that is to be directed by his long time associate Shiva, the lady was disappointed.

After a few discussions, Sonam reportedly told Mani that she could not star in the film as she is busy with other projects.
