A Rs. 600 crore budget film, based on Buddhism, from industrialist BK Modi, will be directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, say our sources in Bollywood. Modi was in talks earlier with Shekar Kapur but finally decided on Ashutosh, it is said.

Ashutosh’s came up for consideration after the stupendous success he gave with films like Lagaan, Swades and Jodha Akbar.

The film will be based on the book Old Path White Clouds, which was penned by the Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh. Our sources also reveal that Deepak Chopra and the Dalai Lama were contacted to help the team come up with a more realistic portrayal.
