Ram Charan starrer Vinaya Vidheya Rama is an over the top commercial potboiler. There is nothing wrong in a film having commercial elements, but the real problem is with the weak story and the screenplay takes a big hit.

A usual revenge drama, where the villain captures someone from the hero's side as a hostage and the hero seeks revenge. The over the top nature doesn't help the cause, and makes Ram Charan break the window of an airport, he runs on a bridge and jumps on a fast-moving train. From there, he leaps on to a horse and fights with hundreds of men, to save a close one. In another supposed-to-be mass scene, the villain threatens a kid with a venomous snake, only to let it bite him and show the kid that he's immortal. Again the over the top nature kicks in, and... the snake dies.

Despite so much effort being invested in these scenes, the reaction from the audience is a huge laughter break. The audience looking at the humorous scenes with a straight face, and the mass scenes with a laughing face sums up what the film does to them. All this being said, Vinaya Vidheya Rama starts on a very promising note. The team does everything to make you emotionally invest in the film. But, 30 minutes into it, everything goes haywire that boils down to one thing - Lack of clarity in what the director wants.

There is a scene where Kiara Advani's mother is shown as a women's rights activist, the very next shot is a close up on Kiara Advani's torso, while she's working out. Such inconsistencies make us question the intent of the film as a whole. How long can Ram Charan solely carry a film with his screen presence?

Overall, there are extras in every department. Extra colour in cinematography, extra loudness in background music, extra effects in editing, extra acting by the supporting cast, which makes the film 'extra' disappointing.

Verdict: VVR is Ram Charan's one-man show that might test your patience, strictly for fans.
