SHAILAJA REDDY ALLUDU CAST & CREW
Production: Sithara Entertainments Cast: Anu Emmanuel, Murali Sharma, Naga Chaitanya, Ramya Krishnan, Vennela Kishore Direction: Maruthi Dasari Screenplay: Maruthi Dasari Story: Maruthi Dasari Music: Gopi Sundar Background score: Gopi Sundar Cinematography: Nizar Shafi Editing: Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao

A boy meets a girl, falls in love at first sight and then sweeps her off her feet. With families being families, the love is not accepted. But the love is not easily undone. The boy has to find ways to impress the girl's family too. It is all about Ego vs love. Eventually, we know which is going to win. But how, is the question. A typical Maruthi Dasari romantic family movie is added to his repertoire.

What Shailaja Reddy Alludu has in addition to the routine love story is the bizarre yet interesting character sketches for the 3 central characters. It might not be wrong to say that the establishment of these characters enjoys more focus in the movie, especially in the first half. Though the conflicts created by these unique characters might seem silly at places, it sure helps in the engagement aspect.

Ramya Krishnan (Shailaja) gets a meaty powerful role and her equation with her daughter is the USP of the film. A relationship filled with love but separated by ego is the concept and it works extremely in favor of the film. Naga Chaitanya has done well, especially in scenes where he cuts loose. It’s a role that looks tailor made for him.

Anu Emmanuel plays an egotistic short-tempered girl who looks naturally pretty. However, that excess coating of makeup wasn’t needed. Likewise, the lip sync issues could have been avoided.

Vennela Kishore as Chay’s sidekick lights up a few scenes with his comic acts as they come and go at many points without being there for too long. Prudhvi Raj as the house servant has some scope for comedy and makes use of it adequately. Murali Sharma as Chay’s father does a role that really does not sit well on him while Naresh as Ramya Krishnan’s father doesn’t have much to do.

The film offers a well-judged balance of romance and family drama. You will find all the trademark Maruthi moves. But however, the love portion which comes in the early phase of the movie drags a bit. Dialogues are one of the strong points in the film.

Too many songs that come at frequent intervals were only hindering the pace of the film, especially when the tracks aren’t impressive. Having said that, Gopi Sundar’s BGM is a pillar of support and the theme music played for Ramya Krishnan’s entry was very effective. The camera and art too, should be appreciated for their commendable contribution.

Verdict: Overlooking certain minor glitches and a predictable screenplay, Shailaja Reddy Alludu is worth a watch for its feel-good and fun elements!
