"I admire Vikram... Pithamagan was extra-ordinary" - Katrina Kaif - Event Story

Dec 17, 2013

The Dhoom 3 team comprising director Vijay Krishna Acharya and lead actors Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra met the press in Chennai today evening, the 17th of December, at the ITC Grand Chola Hotel.

After giving a little intro each about their experiences in Dhoom 3 and how Chennai was special to them and how excited they were about the Tamil dubbed version of the movie, the field was opened to the press for questions and the Dhoom 3 team was patient and comprehensive in answering all the questions in detail.

Aamir Khan talked about how he was a big fan of Rajinikanth since long and he also elaborated on his working experiences with the Superstar long back when he was just a newcomer. Aamir said that he would be ready to do a Tamil film if the character was someone who doesn't know Tamil. He also elaborated on his meet with K.Balachander and how the legend was such a humble man despite his achievements. Aamir recollected his most emotional night as an actor when he received the Gollapudi Srinivas Award for the Best Debut Director from KB for Taare Zameen Par.

Aamir also narrated how Suriya was the one who convinced him that he would be very apt for the hardcore action-oriented role in Ghajini when he was about to do the remake, after falling in love with the Tamil original. He also expressed his wish to see all his movies recover their money for all the parties concerned.

Katrina Kaif said that her mother lived for a period of time in Chennai and hence she always feels at home whenever she lands in the city. She expressed her admiration for Vikram's acting skills and said Pithamagan was an extra-ordinary movie. Though, she keeps getting some offers, she said she was mindful of the language barrier while deciding whether or not to do a Tamil film. When someone pointed out that Hindi heroines do not get along well with one another while doing multistarrers she brushed that suggestion away and shot back "Where did you notice this?". Katrina was at her eloquent best and charmed the audience with her grace and beauty.

Abhishek Bachchan said that he had fond memories of Chennai and Tamil Nadu thanks to his extensive shooting experience in the state and with personalities from the state such as Mani Ratnam and Kenny Sir (Vikram). He said that the crew in the South sit down only for lunch while being active all the time. He appealed to directors in the South that he was very much ready to do a Tamil film. He also professed how a chance to work with an actor like Aamir Khan comes around so rarely.

In all, it was a very interesting session dominated by some worthy questions and lots of frank and intuitive responses from the Dhoom 3 team. The film gears up for its humongous release on the 20th in all its versions, with a combined worldwide screen count of around 4800.
