Theatre exhibitors do not agree to pay 50% VPF to QUBE

Earlier this week, it was reported that TFPC decided to share the VPF rates with Theatre exhibitors, on a 50% - 50% basis, until 2019-20 if they agree. However, Mr.Panneerselvam, General Secretary of Tamil Nadu Theatres Association has stated that no theatre will bear the VPF charges.

In a recent audio statement from Panneerselvam (who is also the proprietor of Rohini Silver Screens theatre in Koyambedu), it was clearly stated that no theatre exhibitor will be ready to pay 50% of VPF rates to QUBE. "We are currently in a very complicated state. We shall cross this bad phase soon, and for that, we should be mentally strong. The meeting that we had with the Producers Council two days back, was a very big failure. We haven't agreed to their demands, about paying 50% share of the VPF rates. We should not back out from that decision, and every single theatre exhibitor will stand by that. We will not pay the VPF charges.", said Panneerselvam.

Well, what is going to be the solution now? Only time has to answer!

Four Christmas releases in Tamil cinema this year too.

Now that Jayam Ravi’s Bhooloham confirms a spot for December 24th 2015, this Christmas weekend just got even more happening.

So far we have 4 films eyeing a Christmas release - Bhooloham, Pasanga 2, Vil Ambu and Anjala. Last year too, Tamil cinema saw 4 films releasing - Meaghamann, Kayal, Kappal and Vellaikaara Durai. It would be interesting to see how Dhanush’s Thangamagan will hold on in its 2nd week at the box office, and compete with these 4 films.

A little birdie hints to us that there is a slight possibility of Gitanjali Selvaraghavan’s Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam also releasing for Christmas!
