The Highway Mafia is an English book written by Suchitra S Rao. She was born in Chennai, brought up in Madurai. The book was received well and the author had announced that some of the producers have agreed to make a film from her novel.
The author made headlines when she said she wants to cast Thalapathy Vijay as the lead in tamil for the story. In a recent interview with Behindwoods, she had shared about talked her book and her reasons for choosing Thalapathy in Tamil. She even narrated the introduction scene of the hero in the story.
She said,”A man is seen casually lying on a vegetable cart in a highway where everything is normal. He sees a glimpse of a lorry driving nearby and in caution, he calls someone over the phone and informs them,”They are here.” Somewhere else on a dhaba is a guy who answers that call, listens to it and then disconnects. He then says "The hunt begins". He is the hero.”
