Director - DoP Santosh Sivan talks about the Inam ban

''When a film that is stressing on non violence is creating violent acts in real time, it doesn't serve the purpose''

Sep 14, 2014
Santosh Sivan's last directorial, Inam, produced by Lingusamy's Thirrupathi Brothers, was taken out of theaters after just three days of screening, for supposed political reasons. Lingusamy had then said that the move had been taken out in order to avoid any political and security related complications, at a time when the elections were just around the corner.

6 months later, Santosh Sivan talks about Inam in an exclusive interview to us:

Sometimes, we have to act mature, no matter how hard it is. When a film that is stressing on non violence through the eyes of a refugee girl, who has seen a lot of hardships, is creating violent acts in real time, it doesn't serve the purpose. Then, it is only right to pull that film out of the theaters and talk to the concerned people.

However, the director - cinematographer hoped that he gets to show Inam to the people, someday.
