Director Vijay expresses his deep disappointment over the Thalaivaa issue

''Thalaivaa's controversy days were among the worst in my life''

Feb 06, 2014

Director Vijay's Thalaivaa had to go through a lot of turmoil related to its release in Tamil Nadu. The film finally had a delayed release in the state, after 10 days of its release in other markets. By that time, pirated copies of the film had spread like wildfire and the theatrical prospects of the film in TN were affected in a big way.

Director Vijay recently spoke about this debilitating release issue in an interview
"This kind of torture shouldn't occur to anyone else in the cinema world. We struggled for one and a half years and all the efforts were wasted by those controversies. Almost the entire state had seen a pirated copy of the movie by the time Thalaivaa released in Tamil Nadu. I encountered people discussing about the pirated copy of the movie wherever I went and it was totally heartbreaking. Those were among the worst days of my life and I was helpless.
Vijay Sir called me and expressed his deep regret that my team and the producer had to go through such difficulties. He also said that he had done more than 50 films and was prepared to take such things in his stride. I have somehow overcome that grief now and have moved on"
Director Vijay is now busy directing Saivam with Nassar and Baby Sarah in the lead.
