It is supposedly a school based thriller.  Priya Anand who was supposed to pair up opposite the composer turned actor, in a surprising move, was replaced by actress Sri Divya, who debuted through Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam. Talking to behindwoods recently, GV Prakash said, “Yes. Sri Divya will be replacing Priya Anand in Pencil and this would be her next Tamil release after VVS.”

In response to this, actress Priya Anand, talking to our correspondent said, “The news that I’m doing the film, came out before I could hear the script. Unfortunately, I need to finish the projects in hand before I can take on new work. Pencil is a really interesting script. GV is perfect for the role and I wish the team all the best!”
