Anshuman Gaekwad, one of the members of the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Board(CAC), on Tuesday, said that the Head Coach of Team India should be an efficient planner with strong man-management skills.

Anshuman Gaekwa Head Coach should good planner and man-manager

“You have to be a man manager and a good planner. These are the two aspects which are most important. There are so many other aspects which you have to take into consideration.” Gaekwad was quoted as saying by Reuters.

On a related note, India Skipper Virat Kohli, before heading to West Indies yesterday, expressed his interest in Ravi Shastri continuing as the Head Coach. “We will definitely be very happy if he (Ravi Shastri) continues as coach, but it is upon the CAC to seek my advice or opinion if they want”, Kohli said at the packed press conference.

When asked if the Board would take Kohli’s inputs, Gaekwad said that it is not mandatory for them to consult with anybody, however it all depends on the BCCI.

Following India’s knock out in the World Cup, BCCI had invited applications for the position of team’s Head Coach,  Batting Coach, Bowling Coach, Fielding Coach, Physiotherapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach as well as an Administrative manager. Present Head Coach Ravi Shastri has no constraint to apply. The deadline for submitting the applications ends on Tuesday (July 30) after which the short-listed  candidates will be called for an interview.
