A 29-year-old cab driver reportedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, on Friday. Families and fellow drivers alleged that the private cab service provider attached to the victim harassed him in monetary dispute and police confiscated his car which forced him to take this extreme step. Following this, taxi drivers staged sudden protests outside Uber office in Alanadur, on Saturday. Reports say, protests also took place near St Thomas Mount and Kathipara Junction widely affecting traffic for over an hour until police pacified them by promising to take necessary action.
