This TN river is several times more polluted than Ganga

According to a government-funded Anna University study, Cauvery river, one of the major rivers in Tamil Nadu is reportedly one of the most polluted rivers in the country. Reports say, the amount of total dissolved solids (TDS) found in its waters is almost 753mg per litre, nearly five times what the river Ganga has. L Elango, professor of geology who headed the study was quoted as saying, "The presence of major ions such as sodium and chlorine was much higher in the Cauvery, particularly near industrial areas, coast and confluence of tributaries, compared to the other rivers studied."
