SAMAYAPURAM TEMPLE ELEPHANT RUNS AMOK, CRUSHES MAHOUT TO DEATH

According to reports, Samayapuram Mariamman temple elephant ‘Masini’ unexpectedly ran amok and crushed the mahout Gajendran to death. The devotees gathered at the temple scattered running to save their lives as they got frantic on watching the incident. The doors of the temple have now been closed with the elephant inside.

Reports suggest that another jumbo named Jaya has been brought to bring ‘Masini’ under control. Masini was reportedly given watermelon and sugarcane to keep it under control. Some other mahouts have rushed to the temple to pacify the frenzied animal.

According to reports, eight people have been injured. Devotees are barred from entering the temple. Reports suggest that ‘Masini’ didn’t have sufficient rest and sleep for the past couple of days.
