The Ministry of Home Affairs has ranked R.S.Puram police station in Coimbatore as the number one police station in India under the category of SMART Police Stations. The K4 Anna Nagar police station in Chennai was ranked fifth under the same category. Notably, the SMART police concept announced by the Prime Minister stands for S- Sensitive and Strict; M- Modern with mobility; A- Alert and Accountable; R- Reliable and Responsive; T- Trained and Techno-savvy.
