According to reports, an assistant commissioner of Excise department was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. The Kanchipuram commissioner named Seenivasan sought the bribe for relocating a Tasmac shop. Earlier, the vigilance officials conducted raids in government offices including sub-registrar offices and RTO offices across Tamil Nadu and found lakhs of rupees bribe money.
