Chennai records heaviest rains in 41 years

TNIE reports say that according to the data available with Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Thursday night rains were the heaviest in the last 41 years for November in Chennai. Chennai reportedly recorded the highest rainfall of 300-mm in the State in the last 24-hours ending on 8.30am on Friday. However, S Balachandran, Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre said that these recordings cannot be compared to the past as there are no historical data of rain spells in the area.
